Dave was a very
troubled guy from the beginning as you noted. His
"wires" were never connected, but in the beginning he meant
well. I saw him in the late 70's when I came back to
Greenville when my Texas band had a record deal. He was "gone"
in all sense of the word...

Dave was one of
the 3 other people in the car when John Suba taught me to
drive in the summer of 1972.
Dave became
a very troubled man as he got older. Most blame it on
drugs, but I tend to think he was predisposed with emotional
problems - and drugs didn't help.
